I did something this semester that I have never done before. I assigned a book for my classes that I had not previously read. This semester I am teaching two sections of The Christian Home, which is an ethics of marriage and family class. The book I assigned is Redeeming Singleness: How the Storyline of Scripture Affirms the Single Life by Barry Danylak. Since there has been a lack of good books on singleness written from a biblical perspective, I was excited to see this new release from Crossway in their upcoming releases back in the spring. With its scheduled release of late September 2010, I decided to take a risk and assign it for the fall semester based on Crossway being the publisher and the foreword by John Piper. Well, I got my copy over the weekend, and I plan to read it in the next few days. After I read it, I hope to give an update here about the book and offer a brief review. Stay tuned.

– sadly, my one seminary course dealing with Singles (entitled “Ministering to Single Adults”) was a complete waste of tuition.
This is a great post. Are you ready for the swarm of comments today? š
